Share The Road Saturday

"Share The Road" Saturday

As we walk with our Savior, there are so many things we encounter on the "road" of our lives, so let's "Share The Road" with each other.

Let's take this day, at "Christian, Can We Talk", to share your testimony, your praises for the week, a trial you are going through, or a trial you went through and how God brought you through it! If you have a question and you don't know the answer, post it here...maybe someone will have an answer for you. Maybe you want to see if you can "stump" us, post a question and see how many of us get it right! This will be totally open, share whatever you want whether you are looking to uplift someone, or needing to be uplifted!

Here is MY "stump 'em" question!

WHO WAS NOAH'S GRANDFATHER?

A praise I would like to share that happened to me this week is THIS blog and all of you and the fans on Facebook! I have thought about doing this blog so many times, but it never seemed the right time. You know how God tugs at you to let you know it is time. Well, I felt that tugging and began. I have been surprised and blessed by the encouragement and support that I have received since beginning this. So many people are very willing to participate in posts and come to comment. People who are "surfing" the web have even stopped by to comment!
I realize that for some they might not even know what a "blog" is! I hope this has opened a "whole new world" to them on the Internet. I know there are many who don't know how to comment yet on here, but we can help them get there! Soon they will be commenting all the time! It is so wonderful to be used by God to reach out to others. It was a successful week, and I am excited to see what next week will bring.
I am also so blessed with how my daughter, Shelby, had stepped up while "hosting" Teen Thursday! She did an awesome job and spent a lot of time picking out the elements she wanted in the post, in hopes of helping and encouraging her fellow teens. Praying next week MORE teens will come out and comment and share!

SO PLEASE COME AND SHARE YOUR HEART, LIFE AND WALK WITH GOD WITH ALL OF US! Oh and don't forget my "stump 'em" question!

Someone shared their testimony so I thought I would post it.

Shelby says, "When I was 11, I went to a Christian Academy at our church. One day, our teacher said we should be saved, and many kids said, ' My parent said I was saved at such and such a year.' She said we shouldn't believe them, and that got me worried. Was I saved? Was I going to Heaven? It bothered me for a while. Then, Sunday came, and a Man came to preach. He was such an awesome preacher, I felt that I needed to reassure myself that I was going to Heaven. SO I raised my hand and asked God to forgive me. After that, I felt better of where I was going, and, even though I'm saved, I say the prayer evertime, just to reassure myself."

Devotional Friday

DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY

Today's devotional is by Pastor George Hopper from The Baptist Church of Northville.

Many christians have had trials, some severe, come into their life and the questions that come from these trials have led some on a road away from their Heavenly FATHER.
The royal ceremony that confers knighthood is one in which the king or queen strikes the subject ,while kneeling, with the flat side of the sword. The person gladly takes the stinging strike, knowing he will rise to his feet a knight.
Sometimes the "trials" that come our way from GOD are meant to make us better servants and sons. Psalm 119:17 is a verse in which David readily admits," It is good that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes." Actually, this group of verses, 65-72, remind us that we can learn from all situations we meet if we realize GOD is working in us to make us better. Apple trees must be pruned regularly to continue to produce good fruit. The pruning involves "hurting" the tree, but the result is better than if the pruning had not taken place.
I look back on my life, and there has been much pruning by GOD. Most of it was not pleasant, I did not like it when it was happening! However, time has allowed me to reflect and I know that I am better for having gone through the rough times. My faith is more grounded as a result.

Where are you in your walk with GOD? Having tough times? Ask GOD to give you the strength to endure and be stronger for HIM as a result!

Teen Thursday hosted by Shelby Sharp

Hey! This is Shelby Sharp. I'm a 15 year old Jesus Freak and I am here to host Teen Thursday! We will have a "Hot Topic" to debate, a poll, and a funny video to make you laugh! I am hoping this can be a good place for teens to have fun , talk and share our views. Guess what ..NO ADULTS...just us & JESUS!!!

VERSE OF THE WEEK: 1 Corinthians 15:33 "Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good morals."

THIS WEEK'S "HOT TOPIC":

Fourteen year-old Megan became a Christian three weeks ago. Now she's faced with tough choices in living her new life. Some of her new friends at church, for example, are telling her to drop her non-Christian friends. "They'll influence you the wrong way. You need Christian friends now," they insist. DO YOU AGREE?
Admit it: Relationships are a MAJOR influence so it is no minor point when people argue that you need close Christian friends. You need them because you can count on them for strength and encouragement while you grow as a Christian. But your non-Christian friends are important also -for different reasons.
#1 - You are the best person to win your non-Christian friends to Christ.
#2 - If you ditch them they could blame Christ for losing you as a friend.
Then if someone tells them about becoming a Christian, their response could be, "Yeah, sure, and trash all MY friends? No way!"
An exception to that rule: If your non-believing friends are a negative influence on you, you have to distance yourself enough to play it safe. When you back off, give them the options to coming closer to Christ. Let the rejection come from them, not the other way around.
ONE WARNING: If you spend time with non-Christians to win them to Christ, you might catch it on both ends. Non-Christians may mock you because you won't get involved in some of their activities, and Christian friends might reject you because they assume you're diving into sin. If that happens, take heart. You're in great company.
Because He spent time with a tough crowd, some people saw Christ as "a
glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of the worst sort of sinners!" (Matthew 11:19) And because He spent time with sinners, the self-righteous Pharisees criticized Him.
The best way to shut down that gossip, of course, is to win at least one of your non-Christian friends to Christ. The new believer will set the record straight. But in the meantime, don't stop reaching out to your non-Christian friends - and don't get mad at your Christian friends. Just press on and do what Jesus did. Show God's love to all of them.
(taken from Josh McDowell's Youth Devotions2)
My mom always says "Love the sinner and hate the sin" so you should always keep sharing your testimony with your non-Christian friends.
"If you drop a white glove in the mud...the mud doesn't become "
glovey". The glove becomes "muddy". This is especially true in relationships. Christian teens who continue relationships with non-Christians needs to be careful they don't get pulled away from God.

SO LET'S CHAT!
How well does it work for you to have both Christian and non-Christian friends?
What if your BEST friend told you that you had to CHOOSE between them and Jesus, how would you handle that?
Start your comments.............NOW!
Also feel free to share any prayer requests with all of us. We need to be prayer warriors for each other.

If you have a hard time with getting a "profile" to publish your comment you can #1 set up a Google account..which is just your email addy and your password. It just allows you to have a profile to comment..nothing more. #2 you can choose to the "name/URL" profile. All you need is , again, your email addy, and a URL. You can get a URL by going to YOUR Profile page on Facebook...copy and paste the URL found at the top of the page...the "http:// blah blah blah...." and put that in where it asks for "URL". You will have to do that every time though, where getting a Google account will only be once..and it will recognize you every time.

Don't forget to come back and check out all the comments. There is also a CONTEST going on. The contest is to see if we, the TEENS, can get more comments on THIS post than the adults got on theirs. Come on TEENS, we can do it...WE RULE!

"LAUGHING TILL MILK SHOOTS OUT YOUR NOSE"

Don't forget the POLL! It is over in the RIGHT side bar. Check out the results tomorrow. Monday is "Music For The Heart" day, where you can share your favorite video from YouTube.com. COME BACK next Thursday for more fun, another funny video, a new poll and the next "Hot Topic".
SEE YA!

Truth Wednesday- The Foundation of Truth submitted by Anne Morgan

Truth Wednesday

What would you say is the definition of truth?
Is it something that is fact?
Perhaps you see truth as that which has been proven to be real.

Dictionary.com has 12 definitions, each varying in small degrees from the next.
One definition is “the true or actual state of a matter.”
Still another says “an agreement with a standard or original.”

None of them, however, provide the answer we are ultimately searching for - who sets the standard for truth?

When Jesus was on earth He was asked the question “What is truth?” (John 18:38) This was in response to His announcement of why He was born.
Ask any Christian why Jesus came to earth and chances are they will respond “to save us from our sins.” He did, didn’t He? Yes, but the heart of the matter comes from Jesus Himself and is found in John 18:37: “Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

When Jesus stood before Pilate, the Truth was on trial. Truth is still on trial today. The world, and its prince do not want the truth to be heard. Why? Because the truth is what sets us free. (John 8:32)
Satan desires to bind us with his lies. And we fall prey to his deception. Even among Christians the truth is feared. Why? Because sometimes the truth is hard to hear. Sometimes it means we have to change. Maybe the truth expects us to do something we don’t want to do. Substitute the name Jesus for the word truth and you begin to see why even Christians struggle at times with Truth.
To quote Tumnus from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, “After all, he isn’t a safe lion.”
Once you come face to face with the God of the universe, you realize the truth of who you are, of what the world is, and you are never the same. But if you embrace the Truth, like Isaiah, there is salvation and cleansing. And just as Isaiah did, you will say, “Here am I. Send me.” (Is. 6), because like Lucy (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), you know, beyond any doubt that He is good.”
Following the Truth isn’t always safe, but it is - He is - always good.
To follow the Truth, we need to know the Truth.

This weeks challenge: Find out how many times Jesus said “I tell you the truth.” The amount may surprise you!

Prayerful Tuesday

Prayerful Tuesday

Prayer is such an important part of our relationship with our God. I thought that we could dedicate this day to praying for our sisters and brothers. We could bring our prayer requests not only to the Throne of Christ, but each other as well. I know for me, how touched and grateful I am when someone says to me "I prayed for you today." or "Is there something I can be praying about for you?" My hope is that we can lift each other up in prayer today, especially. That our Lord would hear and grant the prayers of His people today as we gather to pray for each other.

If you have a prayer request, just fill out a comment box. Others will be able to read them and they can also join in prayer for your request.

Music Monday

Music For The Heart
Mondays

I chose today's video "Hold My Heart" by Tenth Avenue North because of Shelby, my daughter. She had been bugging me to listen to it and I finally did. What struck me first, of course, are always the words. They penetrate my heart so deeply. I have felt this way so many times. I pray that this song will bless you as much as it has Shelby and me.
Please leave a comment with the link to a video YOU would like to share on our "Music For The Heart Monday". I will embed it on this post for all to see and enjoy. ***PLEASE REMEMBER*** to only put the URL on your comment, I can use that to find the embed code.

This is from Shelby and she says, "I love this song because I want to let go of my life and let God take control of it."

This is Trina's pick and she says, "Homesick, by Mercy Me. One of my friends (who shall remain nameless ;) sent it to me two weeks before my brother died. Understand that I am not able to watch it myself, these days, as I am a bit fragile, but in those first days of precious numbness, this song carried me through days of irredeemable despair."

Donna's pick is "Amazing Grace". She says, "My favorite song is Amazing Grace. I really have needed that song in my life many, many, times. She did not leave an URL, so I picked this one. I hope you like the one I picked,Donna.

Noah says "I like this song."

Anne shares, "For me, being Jesus with skin on is my heart's desire. Everyday, all around us, there are people hurting and crying out for love and even "a cup of cold water". You don't have to go across the world to follow Him. Jesus met the physical needs, so the people's hearts and minds would be ready to receive Him. We need to do the same.

John shares a great Mercy Me song and says, "I love this song because someday I will be standing face to face with Christ my Lord and Savior!"

Soulful Sunday - Lies Women Believe..And The Truth That Sets Them Free

I have been reading this wonderful book by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I have been learning so much and want to share some things with you. First off I want you to see the book that I am talking about:

I am definitely a woman who has believed many lies over the years. I am saddened to know how many of those lies have held me back from having healthy relationships with not only friends and family, but my Savior. I thought maybe we would talk about these lies. Maybe you are believing some lies and could use the TRUTH to set you free. I encourage you to get the books as they are awesome and I will not be putting entire chapters on here. If you can't, I will identify the lies each week and the wonderful TRUTH that counters it!
Now I realize this is a book for women, but if you are a man reading this blog, don't feel this can't talk to you , too. You may believe some of the lies we are going to talk about. Or you may know a wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother or friend who is struggling with some of these lies. You could help them see the TRUTH!

"Every area of bondage in our lives can be traced back to a LIE!
A seed is sown; it is watered and fertilized; it takes root and produces fruit - not just a single piece of fruit, but a whole harvest- a harvest of bondage, destruction, and death."

Powerful statement right there. I remember when I read that, it saddened me greatly. How big was the harvest I allowed to grow? How many pieces of my "infected" fruit had I shared with someone? It was overwhelming. But, I knew there was hope, as there always is in Christ, and through this book, I was going to know the answers to those questions.

How can we move from bondage into freedom? There are 3 wonderful steps to be practicing along our journey.

1. You need to identify the areas of bondage or sinful behavior.

More than likely you already know some of these areas. If not, ask God to reveal them to you. There are many AREAS of bondage you could be in: physical, emotional, sexual, and financial. Sinful habits is another way we can be in bondage.
For me, I had at least one in almost every AREA! Overeating, anxiety, overspending, anger, always seeking approval. WHEW! And those were all the ones I KNEW about!

2. You need to identify the lie or lies that are at the root of the bondage or behavior.

This one is not as easy to see, as #1 was. Some I could identify pretty easily, for example, the overeating is due to wanting comfort in ANY kind of emotion. I need to be looking to Christ for that. Overspending is trying to and shortly living, the joy from purchasing things. Joy I should be getting out of my relationship with Christ IF I was doing MY part. A few of the others were harder to identify their origins.

3. You need to replace the lie or lies with the TRUTH!

We all know what a deceiver Satan is and he likes nothing more than to keep us all believing the lies so we stay in bondage and never feel free. We need to combat those lies with the TRUTH that God has give us. After we identify the lie, we need to ask God to forgive us for believing it, and then we will have the "weapon of TRUTH" to start overcoming the deception we have lived in.

Here are a few things to think about till next time:

Read John 10:10. Would you say you are experiencing the abundance of life that Jesus came to give?

What does Ephesians 6:11-12 say about Satan and how he operates?

Satan knows that as long as we are not regularly meditating on God's Word we will be vulnerable to his deceptions. What "good" things are keeping you from consistent study of His Word?

There are 4 steps that take us from INITIAL deception to bondage: Listen to the lie, Dwell on the lie, Believe the lie and Act on the lie. As long as we live in this world, we can't completely isolate ourselves from ever hearing any lies. What is the difference between "hearing" and "listening to" lies?

Read Psalm 51:6, John 17:17, 2 Timothy 2:15, and John 14:15-17 and 16:13.

Let's pray:
"Lord, I pray that You will show me clearly what lies I have believed. Then show me the Truth that will set me free. Thank You for Your Word and Your Holy Spirit that point me to the Truth. Help me to claim Your Truth and to walk in Your Truth today and every day. Amen

Shall We Begin?

The main purpose of this blog is to talk about our joys, trials, victories, prayer requests, struggles, and blessing during our walk with God. Please share as much as you like or are comfortable doing. I pray this will be a place to learn, share, pray, and be lifted up in the Lord.

So Far This Week:

I have run across many people who are having a hard time commenting or finding where they are to comment on the posts. They want to share their prayer requests or music videos and can't. I am hoping this will be easier. From now on, I will add the new day and the new day's topic to the home page post. Just click on the word "HERE" and it will take you to the post with the comment box already up and you will be able to see comments other people have shared. I am praying this will be easier for everyone. If not, we can go back to the old way.
